YMCA Freemont Nebraska Earth Retention

Project Location: Freemont, Nebraska
Owner: YMCA
Contract Value: $298,875
Completed: 2017

Construction of a new swimming pool adjacent to an existing structure required an earth retention system on three sides of the pool.  The facility is located in river bottoms with alluvial soils.  Working as a subcontractor to Weitz, TerraFirm constructed an earth retention system which consisted of 14 inch diameter steel reinforced auger cast columns with an offset row of filler columns to prevent soils from flowing into the excavation. When heights exceeded 8 feet, a row of tiebacks with walers were installed.
